Though it may not always seem like it, God calls us all – calls us each down our own path, our own journey. At times, it can feel like we are lost with no sense of direction or what’s next, but God is there in those times, slowly pulling us and calling us to act.
Take a moment to think about where, or to what, you have felt God calling you lately? What does this look like for you? Have you even felt God calling you recently?
While some of us know exactly what it is we are called to do, where we are called to go, or who we are called to be, for others, it is not that easy or obvious. It is easy to get discouraged when we can’t sense where God is calling us.
Whether we know where or to what God is calling us or we are still trying to figure it all out, there are a few things that we should remember that we are all called to:
“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
“Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
John 13: 34-35
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
So regardless of whether or not you know what or where it is God is calling you, as we seek that and pursue that, we should strive to seek after Christ, to grow closer to Him, and to love those around us, just as He loved us.
- How is being here, in a setting of worship and service, helping you to reflect on your call?
- Have you felt God calling you to something different this week?
Spend some time in prayer. Ask God to show you what it is God is calling you to. Pray that you would have open eyes and an open heart to hear that call and a willingness to follow.
